Build a two-sided marketplace — supply and demand platform with transaction infrastructure.

A two-sided marketplace connects buyers and sellers in a structured transaction. The platform's job is to reduce friction, build trust, and take a fee. RCB Software builds the full stack: discovery, trust, transaction, and payments.

The problem
Marketplace founder who needs the full two-sided platform technology — supply onboarding, demand discovery, matching, and payment infrastructure

Two-sided marketplaces have three core technical challenges:

1. Trust infrastructure: Both sides need to trust the platform before they trust each other. Identity verification, review systems, and dispute resolution build trust. These are features, not afterthoughts.

2. Payment escrow: Buyers won't pay sellers directly. The platform holds payment until the transaction is complete. Stripe Connect handles multi-party payments but the escrow timing and release logic must be built.

3. Matching and discovery: Buyers need to find the right sellers. Search, filtering, and recommendation algorithms determine whether the marketplace creates value or frustrates users.

Two-sided marketplace models:

  • Transaction-based (Uber, Airbnb): Platform takes percentage per transaction
  • Lead generation (Thumbtack): Platform charges supply side per lead
  • SaaS for supply (Shopify): Platform charges supply side monthly fee

FAQ

Questions, answered.

The technology is designed to allow manual seeding — the platform operator can create supply-side profiles for early sellers before the seller onboards themselves. This allows demonstrating demand before requiring sellers to self-onboard.
